Book the Four Seasons if you want a genuinely calm five-star stay for $656 a night, with no casino noise and a private pool tower. Book the Bellagio if you want to be in the thick of the Strip, with its fountains, gardens and casino, for $432, and don't mind more foot traffic and 3,000-plus reviews' worth of crowd. Bellagio is the better value and the more theatrical building; Four Seasons is the more restful one. Both sit on Las Vegas Boulevard, roughly 2.3km apart, so the choice is really about atmosphere rather than location.
The look and the feel
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas
The Four Seasons occupies the top floors of the Mandalay Bay tower but runs itself as a separate, casino-free hotel, so the lobby is hushed marble and quiet, not slot-machine chime. Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with Strip or mountain views, and the whole place trades on that absence of noise and smoke rather than on spectacle. It draws a guest who wants five-star service, a private pool deck, and to be left alone after dark, with dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak standing in for a night out.

Bellagio
Bellagio is the Steve Wynn fantasy of Lake Como transplanted to the desert, with the Fountains of Bellagio choreographed outside and the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens changing its floral display through the year. The rooms are decorated in a warm, slightly baroque register, marble bathrooms and electronic drapes, but the real theatre is downstairs: the casino floor, the glass-flower ceiling by Dale Chihuly in the lobby, five courtyard pools, and a constant flow of people who came for the show as much as the bed. It is the hotel version of being inside the postcard.
Best for anyone who wants to be inside the fountains-and-gardens spectacle and treats the casino as part of the stay.
At $432 the Bellagio gives up nothing the Four Seasons has except a pet allowance; what it adds instead, casino and hot tub, is exactly what a Four Seasons guest is paying to avoid.
Bellagio is the more beautiful and characterful building to stand inside, with the Chihuly ceiling and the gardens doing real architectural work, while the Four Seasons is comfortable but essentially generic luxury above a mall.
