The honest take

The Four Seasons Beverly Hills is pricier at $1,055 versus $897, but it carries a stronger guest rating (9.2 vs 9.0) on a comparable review count, and its Doheny Drive address sits deeper in residential Beverly Hills. The Waldorf Astoria, on Wilshire, is closer to LACMA and the Petersen and includes golf access, which the Four Seasons doesn't list. If budget matters and you want proximity to the museum row, book the Waldorf; if you want the higher-rated stay and don't mind paying for it, book the Four Seasons.

The look and the feel

Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

This is the hotel above Beverly Hills proper, set back from Wilshire on a quiet residential rise, favoured for decades by film industry types who want privacy over spectacle. The public rooms lean traditional Californian grand hotel: cream and gold tones, heavy drapery, a rooftop pool deck that's been the site of a thousand quiet script meetings over club sandwiches. Rooms have French doors onto private balconies, which is unusual density of outdoor space for an urban five-star. The overall feel is hushed money rather than showy money.

Best for guests who want old-money Beverly Hills quiet, a rooftop pool scene, and don't mind paying near the top of the market.

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills

The Waldorf Astoria brand brings its house style to Wilshire Boulevard: a more contemporary tower than the Four Seasons, with the polish of a newer build rather than an old-Hollywood property. Rooms get flat-screen TVs and some private balconies, and the hotel leans into extras like a hot tub, a terrace, and free bike rentals, giving it a slightly more activity-oriented, guest-services feel. Its location near LACMA and the Petersen puts it closer to the museum and design end of the city rather than the residential hush further west.

Best for guests who want a slightly newer build, museum-district proximity, and extras like bike rentals and a hot tub at a lower nightly rate.

Booking the Waldorf over the Four Seasons means giving up golf access, which is listed as a Four Seasons-only facility, along with a small step down in guest rating.

The Four Seasons has the more atmospheric public spaces and the pedigree of old Beverly Hills; the Waldorf's tower feels efficient and polished but comparatively generic beside it.

“Amazing 3 night stay!”

Had the most incredible 3 night stay!! Booked balcony deluxe room and had requested to face back of hotel/high floor since we are light sleepers. Sam in in-house reservations was amazing and our room on 15th floor was the most quiet room ever!! Everyone at hotel super friendly and everything very clean, beautiful decor. We especially loved The Penalty box to watch Cup games. Breakfast and room service also great. Co

“Four Seasons…always a good Choice”

The Four Seasons Hotel on Doheny Drive is a truly wonderful hotel from which to explore beautiful Beverly Hills. The hotel is very well-maintained, the reception staff was friendly, and our Hollywood Suite was spacious and cozy. Since we were staying on the ninth floor, we were able to make wonderful use of the two balconies. On the fourth floor is the pool area, which is spacious for an LA city hotel. A pretty poo

“Old timey Luxury, soon should get a little facelift.”

Long (10 day) business stay at the Four Seasons. Atmosphere: luxurious, yet understated. Harkens back to the early 2000 and one can easily understand why many celebrities opt to stay here, away from prying eyes. The lobby could use a bit of a refresher. Service: top notch, especially Tom the bellman and housekeeping. Check in desk was courteous but nothing extraordinary. Location: decent, but action is at least a 20

“unique charm woven into every design detail”

We stayed here in March 2023, and this hotel is a classic Waldorf Astoria property with unique charm woven into every design detail. We stayed in a corner suite, and the hotel thoughtfully welcomed us with chocolate-covered strawberries. Their shuttle service made dining and shopping around Beverly Hills super convenient. We truly loved every moment of our stay!
