The Carlyle occupies an Art Deco tower from 1930 on the Upper East Side, and it still feels like the private club it was built to be: Dorothy Draper had a hand in the original decor, and the lobby retains that dark, clubby glamour of marble floors, brass fittings and low lamplight. Bemelmans Bar, with its murals by Ludwig Bemelmans himself, is the reason half of New York still drinks there after ten. “Kind and attentive staff during the visit, cold room, scabies following visit”
I came here for two nights with my daughter and stayed in a room on the 12th floor with two twin beds. The room would not warm up due to the cold temperatures outside. The staff was very responsive and sent up a very kind technician immediately to make sure the heat was working correctly. “Wonderful hotel”
I have stayed multiple times at the Carlyle for pleasure, but this stay was different as I needed to be near the hospital where my husband was having surgery. The entire staff was kind, patient, and extraordinarily accommodating. Every morning at breakfast they would even make a special bag of the daily papers and pastries to bring to him at the hospital without my even asking. This is just a small example of how the

“Good but not great”
There are “hotel people” and Air BnB people. We are definitely hotel people, especially iconic hotels like the Carlyle, which is Rosewood branded. We have been fortunate to stay at top hotels around the world, like The Imperial Hotel in Vienna, the Peninsula in Paris and Bangkok, and Four Seasons around the globe, among many others.

“Fantastic Food and Exceptional Service”
We had a wonderful lunch at The St. Regis New York on 28th July, and the whole experience was exceptional from start to finish.
I visited with my friend and her toddler, and the food was absolutely delicious. What really made our lunch so memorable, though, was the incredible service. Every member of staff was warm and welcoming, and they went out of their way to make my friend’s child feel so special.

First, forget about the butler experience. It does not exist. We called them and they never came. The building, despite a recent renovation, is old and in poor condition. The service is indifferent.
