The honest take
The Windsor Court runs $638 a night against Fontenot's $343, and it earns the gap with a spa, pool, rooftop and casino access Fontenot doesn't have on its list. Windsor Court also edges the ratings, 9.8 versus 9.4, on a smaller, more curated review base. Book the Windsor Court if you want the full traditional luxury hotel experience with facilities to match the tariff; book Fontenot if you want a stylish, well-run four-star a few blocks away for nearly half the cost.
The look and the feel
The Windsor Court
The Windsor Court is a New Orleans institution built in the 1980s to feel much older, its lobby hung with English and American oil portraits, staircases in dark wood, and suites furnished with reproduction antiques and marble bathrooms that lean traditional rather than trendy. The Polo Lounge does live jazz and proper cocktails under low light, Le Salon serves an old-fashioned afternoon tea, and the whole place has the hush of a private club rather than a hotel lobby. It draws an older, moneyed, often repeat clientele who want quiet formality over the exposed brick and neon of the Quarter nearby.
Guests who want a formal, old-New-Orleans luxury hotel with a spa, pool and jazz bar, and don't mind paying for it.
Kimpton Hotel Fontenot by IHG
Kimpton Fontenot is a newer entrant near the Convention Center and Poydras corridor, going for the brand's usual mix of a lively shared lounge, a bikes-out-front energy, and a restaurant built to be a destination rather than an afterthought. The listing points to a fitness centre and communal spaces rather than a spa or pool, which fits Kimpton's model of putting money into design and service touches instead of extensive leisure facilities. It suits a younger, design-conscious traveller who wants personality and a good bar downstairs without paying for a full resort-style build-out.
Travellers who want a stylish, well-located four-star near the Convention Center at a much lower nightly rate.
At $343 Fontenot gives up the spa, pool, rooftop and casino access that come with the Windsor Court's rate, trading leisure facilities for location and price.
The Windsor Court is the more atmospheric room to sit in, with its oil paintings, dark wood and jazz-soaked lounge giving it a sense of occasion that a newer Kimpton build, however well designed, can't fake.

The Windsor Court continues to live up to its standards. It is refreshing to see that in this day in age. The staff is professional and caring. They also seem legitimately happy to work there. The hotel has high standards and is well worth the value.
We will be back a fourth time.
Thank you and keep up the good work.

“One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had.”
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! I stayed with my wife for our anniversary and we both had a wonderful experience. When we left, we felt like we had a peaceful reset from a relaxing vacation. The service is another level and I’ve rarely experienced a service that is so attentive. The room was immaculate and spacious. The restaurant was beautiful and we loved the vibe of the bar when music was playing at night. The only thing to
