At $365 versus $356 these two are close enough to decide on neighbourhood and taste rather than money. The Peninsula sits on the Chao Phraya in Klongsan, across the river from the main downtown, with the higher review count and a long-established reputation for river-view luxury. Rosewood scores marginally higher on guest rating and sits on Ploenchit with direct BTS access, putting it in the thick of the Sukhumvit-Ploenchit commercial core. Both list pools, spas, saunas and fitness centres, so the real choice is river calm versus city centre.
The Peninsula occupies a curved, ship-like tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, built specifically to give every room a river view, and it shows in the way the building bends toward the Chao Phraya. The lobby is cool marble and dark wood, orchids in tall vases, a sense of old-school Asian grand hotel rather than anything trendy. Longtail boats and the hotel's own shuttle cross to the opposite bank, and the pool deck looks straight onto passing barges and the Bangkok skyline at dusk. It draws an older, quieter luxury crowd, honeymooners and long-time repeat guests who want river light on the water rather than street noise.
Best for travellers who want river views, quiet grandeur and a slower pace, willing to cross the water to reach downtown.
Rosewood Bangkok occupies a striking asymmetrical glass tower on Ploenchit designed by Kerry Hill Architects, its faceted form nicknamed locally for its jagged silhouette against the skyline. Inside, the interiors lean warm and textured, teak, brass, Thai silk accents, with a lobby that reads more residential than palatial, and a nightclub on site that signals a younger, more social energy after dark. Being steps from the BTS and Ploenchit's malls and offices, it suits guests who want to walk out the door into the city rather than a boat ride to reach it.
Best for travellers who want to be in the middle of the action, walk to BTS and shopping, and like a livelier, design-forward hotel with nightlife on site.
Neither facility list shows a clear amenity gap, so the difference is really address and atmosphere: The Peninsula gives up central convenience for river frontage, while Rosewood gives up river calm for being minutes from Ploenchit's transit and malls.
The Peninsula is the more beautiful place to simply be, its curved tower and river light giving it a stillness and grandeur that Rosewood's sharper, more urban design doesn't try to match.

- all the pillows are soft. Usually a firmer pillows are used in combination with the soft ones like four seasons hotels and many others. This caused me pain in neck. - please add milk creamer sachets for the espresso mini bar
