Book the Conrad. At $349 versus $579 it undercuts the Venetian's club lounge by 40 percent while adding a casino, fitness centre and hot tub the Venetian package doesn't list, and it has a far larger, more established review base at a similarly strong 8.6. The Venetian Prestige Club Lounge answers back with breakfast included and access to the Venetian's famous restaurant roster, but that's a narrower claim than a full 5-star resort stay. For most travellers the Conrad is simply the better-specced room for less money, 1.4km up the Strip.

This is a slice of the Venetian's suite tower, not the whole hotel: the 36th-floor Prestige Club Lounge sits above the resort's trompe l'oeil frescoes, gondola canals and marble colonnades modelled loosely on Venice itself. Expect Egyptian cotton sheets, premium bedding and LED televisions in the suites below, with the lounge itself functioning as a quiet, elevated retreat from the casino floor - daily complimentary reception, views over the Strip, a hush that the main lobby doesn't have. Downstairs the property still delivers the full theatrical Venetian experience: 20 restaurants including Milos, nine bars, a nightclub, four pools and spa tubs. The scale is enormous: a 100,000-square-foot casino, nearly 30 retail outlets, more than 40 restaurants and seven pools including a family pool, all under one roof. It reads contemporary rather than themed - no gondolas or frescoes, just clean lines, an entertainment wall in every room, and a sense of a resort built this decade rather than reimagined from one twenty years ago.
