The honest take
Both sit at 9.4 with strong review counts, but Conrad Tokyo runs about $700 cheaper a night and throws in breakfast, which Four Seasons Otemachi does not list. Four Seasons has the hot tub Conrad lacks and a higher review count, backing up its price with a smaller, more exacting operation. For most travellers Conrad is the better booking on value alone; book Four Seasons if you want the quieter, more rarefied version of Tokyo luxury and don't mind paying for it.
The look and the feel
Conrad Tokyo
Conrad Tokyo occupies the upper floors of a Shiodome tower, all glass and steel with the harbour and Rainbow Bridge laid out below. The rooms lean toward calm, contemporary Japanese minimalism, pale woods and soft greys, floor-to-ceiling windows doing most of the design work. The 29th-floor spa and the indoor pool trade on the same view, and China Blue and the other restaurants give it the feel of a vertical resort rather than a single hotel. It draws a business and leisure mix, families included, people who want scale and city views rather than intimacy.
Conrad suits visitors who want big-hotel amenities, five restaurants, a view-driven spa and pool, at a lower price point.
Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi
Four Seasons Otemachi sits in Tokyo's financial district, a low, discreet building compared to its neighbours, with interiors built around natural materials, washi-inspired screens, muted stone, and a garden courtyard visible from select rooms. The public spaces are quieter and more considered than a typical Four Seasons, closer to a private club than a hotel lobby, reflecting the brand's push toward understated Japanese luxury rather than imported glamour. The location near the Imperial Palace grounds and Masakado's Grave gives it a historical, almost residential hush at night, a contrast to Shiodome's tower cluster.
Four Seasons suits those after a smaller, more considered stay near the Imperial Palace, willing to pay more for restraint and service.
Booking Conrad over Four Seasons means giving up the hot tub and, likely, the tighter service ratio implied by the smaller Otemachi property; Four Seasons in turn skips the included breakfast Conrad offers.
Four Seasons Otemachi is the more beautiful place to sit still in, its low-key materials and garden views doing more with less than Conrad's view-driven tower rooms.

“A Disappointing Stay That Made Us Reconsider Four Seasons”
Polished Courtesy, but Inconsistent Hospitality
Our family stayed at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi for seven nights. We booked a suite for ourselves and a separate room for my mother, so this was a substantial family stay and gave us enough time to experience the hotel well beyond a brief first impression. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply mixed. While the staff were consistently polite on the surface,

“Vacation”
We had a wonderful stay at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi.
What stood out to me the most was the level of care and support from the hotel team. They went out of their way to help me with an important situation during my trip and continued assisting me even after I had already left Japan.
I especially appreciate the time and effort the team put into helping me resolve everything. They certainly did not have to
