“No Marriott Bonvoy points”
The hotel and staff were lovely. However, they will not award me my Marriott Bonvoy points as the hotel was booked via a travel agent rather than direct.
Priced on the same night, 2026-10-10: The St. Regis Mexico City is $52 a night less. They are 417 metres apart.

The St. Regis Mexico City comes in at $695 against the Ritz-Carlton's $1,130, scores higher with guests (9.4 vs 9), and offers a hot tub that the Ritz doesn't list. Both sit on Paseo de la Reforma within 0.4 km of each other, so location is effectively a wash. On the numbers alone the St. Regis is the better booking; the Ritz would need to win on atmosphere to justify the premium.
The Ritz-Carlton occupies one of the glass towers on Reforma, and the interiors lean into that: high floors, big views over the Angel of Independence and Chapultepec Park, a lobby pitched toward polished stone, low lighting and the studied hush that chain luxury brands aim for worldwide. It reads as corporate five-star rather than a building with its own personality, the kind of place where the design serves predictability over character. The restaurant and bar are competent rather than memorable, and the crowd is business travellers and those who want the Ritz name specifically.
Guests loyal to the Ritz-Carlton brand or corporate travellers who want a known, dependable script wherever they land.
The St. Regis sits a few doors down Reforma and plays a different game: butler service on every floor, three restaurants, two ballrooms, and spa treatments folded into the room rate psychology even if not the price itself. St. Regis interiors globally tend toward a more theatrical, Beaux-Arts-inflected glamour, with the King Cole Bar tradition transplanted loosely into local form, brass fittings, deep upholstery, and staff trained around the ritual of the sabre and the champagne. In Mexico City that translates to a build with more event space and dining variety than the Ritz next door, aimed at guests who want ceremony alongside comfort.
Guests who want more restaurants, event space, butler service and a hot tub, at a lower price, without giving up the same Reforma address.
At $1,130 the Ritz doesn't add any listed facility the St. Regis lacks; the St. Regis actually adds a hot tub the Ritz doesn't have, so the extra $435 a night buys the Ritz name and its particular version of the same boulevard, not more amenities.
The St. Regis is the more characterful place to be, with more dining rooms, ballroom theatre and butler ritual working in its favour, while the Ritz offers the safer, more generic five-star script.

Nothing on our list that The St. Regis Mexico City lacks.
“Insulation is so bad you feel like you’re sleeping next to a truck stop and autobahn.”
“The St Regis has the best service of any hotel in Mexico City.”
St. Regis guests come away happier, as reviews consistently praise attentive service and quiet rooms with no recurring complaints, while Ritz-Carlton guests repeatedly cite street noise and thin insulation disrupting sleep.

“Amazing luxurious stay!”
What a wonderful stay! We were upgraded to a beautiful suite room 1001. We also used their airport transportation and Roberto was excellent but so was the other driver. When we arrived the bellmen promptly assisted us with our luggage and we were checkin. We were excited to have seen the nice upgrade (am Ambassador) and they acknowledged my status. The whole stay was magical. The King Cole Bar is a wonderful space
“Treated Like Genuinely Welcomed Guests”
The St. Regis Mexico City is an outstanding hotel, and we can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like genuinely welcomed guests. That began at check-in, where the team took real care with our room selection, and it continued throughout our stay — there was always someone asking whether there was anything they could do to make our visit more enjoyable. That kind of consistent, at
